A buyer rarely begins with a perfectly formed agency brief. They may ask which kind of partner can solve a problem, what a project involves or how to compare two approaches. A service page that only says “we deliver innovative solutions” gives that person very little to work with.

AI search made the weakness more visible in 2025, but the underlying content problem was familiar. Your website needs enough substance for someone to understand what you do, when it fits and why your business belongs on the shortlist.

On May 21, 2025, Google advised site owners to focus on distinctive, useful content, good page experience and technical accessibility for its AI search experiences. It also emphasized that structured data should match visible content. That guidance supports a grounded approach rather than promises of guaranteed inclusion. Google’s May 2025 guidance

Give each service page a real decision to support

Start by naming the audience, problem and service scope. A visitor should be able to distinguish the offer from adjacent services without scheduling a call just to decode your terminology.

For a hypothetical workplace design business, an office refresh, a full fit-out and an ongoing facilities program are different buying decisions. Explain what changes between them: likely inputs, dependencies, deliverables and the kinds of situations each approach suits.

Do not create a near-identical page for every wording variation a search tool suggests. Build a distinct page when the user need is meaningfully different. Search language is a useful clue to intent, not a demand to fill the site with interchangeable copy.

Replace broad claims with useful evidence

An evidence-rich page contains information a competitor cannot accurately copy and simply put its own name above.

That might include an approved project example, a specific problem your team solved, an annotated deliverable or an explanation of a tradeoff buyers often overlook. Evidence does not require a dramatic percentage. A clear description of the work and its constraints can establish competence without inventing a financial result.

HalfGenius’s Lima Company portfolio page identifies website redesign and basic SEO setup. When discussing that work, those documented deliverables provide a firmer foundation than an unsupported assertion about sales growth. Apply the same discipline to your own portfolio: separate what you delivered from what you can prove happened afterward.

Get permission before publishing client materials. If a useful example must remain confidential, explain the general principle without disguising an invented case as a real one.

Answer the questions a serious buyer asks

Review recent inquiries and proposals for recurring uncertainties. Then put concise, substantive answers on the relevant page.

Helpful questions often include:

  • What is included, and what would require a separate scope?
  • What does the client need to provide before work starts?
  • Which factors affect the timeline or investment?
  • What does a successful handoff contain?
  • When is this service the wrong fit?

Answering the last question can be commercially useful. It helps the right prospect recognize the fit and prevents your team from spending time on inquiries you cannot serve.

If you cannot publish a fixed price, explain the variables that affect it. If timing depends on approvals or source materials, describe those dependencies. Precision is more useful than a cheerful but unqualified promise.

Make the information easy to use

Use descriptive headings, readable paragraphs and links that make their destination clear. Put important service facts in accessible page text rather than only in an image, video or downloadable brochure.

Support the explanation with original photography, diagrams or video when those assets answer a question. Include appropriate text alternatives and supporting descriptions. A video that demonstrates a process should strengthen the page, not become the only way to understand it.

Keep the inquiry path connected to the content. Ask for enough information to start a useful conversation and explain what happens after submission. A page can attract a well-informed visitor and still lose the opportunity through a confusing next step.

Keep technical work grounded

Google’s October 2022 Search Essentials introduction already identified access and indexable content as basic technical requirements. Start there, then have the website team check the live pages, internal links and mobile experience. Google’s Search Essentials introduction

Where structured data is appropriate, make it truthful and consistent with the visible information. Markup cannot turn a thin page into a convincing service explanation. Nor can an agency guarantee a particular placement in an AI-generated answer.

Treat AI-search visibility as one part of discovery. Buyers may also arrive through referrals, directories, social content, events and ordinary search results. The same strong service page should help all of them.

Measure the value of the visit

Track qualified inquiries, relevant service-page engagement and the questions prospects bring to sales calls. Observe search performance over time without attributing every change to a single edit.

A useful monthly review asks whether the site is attracting the right opportunities and helping people understand the offer. That is a more durable business objective than chasing isolated screenshots of an AI answer.
